During the 1980s and 1990s, Lindemann photographed extensively—often without a commission or a predefined concept, but always with immense passion. For him, these early works are discoveries from a period of searching, wonder, and learning how to see.

He also spent a great deal of time in the darkroom. Ansel Adams was his teacher from afar, and Adams’s books became his course of study: The Negative. The Print. The Camera. Over these two decades, Lindemann learned to observe, compose, and photograph. It was an education that shaped not only his images but also his professional path—both as a photographer and as a television cameraman.

The works shown here are exclusively analogue photographs, moving between reportage, documentary, and fine-art photography. All 35mm images were taken with his Leica M6, primarily using 35mm and 50mm Summicron lenses. His medium-format photographs were created with a Mamiya 6 and 50mm, 75mm, and 150mm lenses.
