Everyday observations, selfies, holiday snapshots, wedding photographs—and, of course, the daily image for Instagram. Never before have so many photographs been taken. Various studies and forecasting models estimate the global volume at between 4.7 and 5.3 billion images per day.

That is around 60,000 photographs every second.

An endless stream of fleeting moments made of light and pixels—a resistance to forgetting. But what remains? At a time when everyone records everything, the act of truly seeing becomes an art in itself.

Photographs have lost none of their significance. On the contrary: on platforms such as Instagram, they have become a form of currency. Many influencers make a living from their images and selfies. Yet the actual process of creating a photograph is often treated as irrelevant.

Wrongly so.

These are moments within the moment.
