Fermé. Closed. Zu.

“FERMÉ” is the title of Lindemann’s new project, following his widely noted series Monobloc.

This time, his focus is on small businesses far removed from established shopping worlds—and always after closing time. When everything is shut and no one is looking anymore, one person still is. These images do more than show closed doors; they tell stories about local habits, as well as cultural differences and shared realities.

Entire businesses disappear behind rolled-down garage doors after endless working hours. Huge plastic tarpaulins crudely conceal entire rows of open-air shops. Piles of objects are deliberately arranged to block entrances.

With a sober, unembellished, frontal gaze, Lindemann documents these often bizarre results of such efforts along the streets of Asian, Eastern European, and American metropolises.

The result is a quiet yet powerful portrayal of global diversity.
